Kenya Pipeline Flags Job Adverts Targeting Youth

-

  • The Kenya Pipeline Company, on Thursday, February 9, cautioned job seekers against participating in a recruitment process they claimed was fake and exploitative.

In a series of advertisements, fraudsters listed some thirty-six vacancies that were supposed to be filled by hundreds of job seekers.

Kenya Pipeline warned that it would not take responsibility for losses or damages caused.

“Beware of the fake job offers from scammers pretending to be Kenya Pipeline. Should you come across this or know anyone who might fall victim, please caution them not to send any money,” Kenya Pipeline warned.

The job adverts also asked job seekers to pay a certain amount to secure the opportunities that targeted the youth.

“Kenya Pipeline does not ask for any payment whatsoever before offering a job,” the company warned job seekers.

In a statement released by Kenya Pipeline, the company also shared a graphics design of the advert that labelled it as fake (in red text).

Conmen have, of late, been hoodwinking job seekers into paying for fake employment opportunities that do not exist.

“The average value for Kenya during that period was 3.26 per cent, with a minimum of 2.76 per cent in 2016 and a maximum of 5.74 per cent in 2022.

“Latest value from 2022 is 5.74 per cent. For comparison, the world average in 2022 based on 180 countries is 8.46 per cent,” World Bank stated on its website.

Job seekers are always advised to cross-check posts on company websites and social media handles. They can also report scammers to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
