Ekuru Aukot hit below the belt as Punguza Mizigo Bill flops in 3 counties again

-

Thirdway Alliance party leader Ekuru Aukot is not giving up on his bid to force constitutional amendments through his Punguza Mizigo Bill 2019.

This is despite more county assemblies continuing to throw out the proposals which seeks to drastically reduce the public wage bill and declare tough punishment on the corrupt.

On Tuesday, Nakuru and Nairobi joined the list of counties where Punguza Mizigo Bill has been rejected.

Aukot asked the bill supporters not to give up and hit out at Members of County Assembly (MCAs) for rejecting his proposals on grounds which were not making sense.

On his part, Thirdway Alliance chairperson Miruru Waweru accused the political class of being behind the fall of the bill since it contained strict proposals to deal with graft.

“A political class that thrives on stealing from the poor and working class taxpayers, will work the round the clock to sabotage proposals meant to end theft of public resources,” he tweeted.

In Nakuru, MCAs threw out the bill on grounds it was a ‘populist initiative’ while in Nairobi the Ward Representatives said it was ‘unrealistic and retrogressive’.
