0

  • The government has announced plans to recruit 30,000 teachers by the beginning of the next academic calendar.

In a statement by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, dated Thursday, December 1, it was indicated that the move was aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers in schools.

The recruitment will take place before January 23, 2023, when schools reopen for a new academic year.

State House released the statement hours after President William Ruto met with the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms that was reviewing the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is expected to give detailed information about recruitment in the coming days.

During the recruitment, priority will be given to tutors of Junior Secondary Schools.

“The Ministry of Education, Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development and the Teachers Service Commission will work on modalities of fast-tracking retooling teachers to ensure the country has sufficient numbers who are compliant with CBC.

“Government will recruit an additional 30,000 teachers by January 2023 to facilitate the transition and bridge the teacher shortage,” read the statement in part.

In addressing infrastructural challenges in schools, the government also announced plans to construct classrooms and laboratories in all schools in the country.

This is in addition to CBC classrooms constructed by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration in secondary schools.

“Members of Parliament are asked to work towards providing support for the extra facilities.

“Meanwhile, primary schools neighbouring secondary schools will share the laboratories and other facilities with junior secondary schools,” read the statement in part.

Justin Muturi Intervenes, Ends CDF Stalemate

    0

  • The stalemate between members of parliament and the National Treasury regarding the legality of the National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) was brought to an end after a long wait.

This followed a statement from Treasury Cabinet Secretary Prof Njuguna Ndung’u on Thursday, December 1, indicating that the government will resume disbursing the funds beginning December 9.

The CS through a statement read by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula noted that Attorney General Justin Muturi advised that the Supreme Court ruling that nullified CDF did not touch on NG-CDF.

As such, AG Muturi noted that the NG-CDF Act of 2015 would remain in force with no hindrance.

However, the AG in his statement acknowledged the existence of a pending matter in court challenging the constitutionality of the NG-CDF. He advised that the fund would remain operational until the case is heard and determined.

The Treasury stated that Ksh2 billion will be paid to the constituencies on a weekly basis from the above-mentioned date and a total of Ksh44 billion will be reimbursed by the 23rd week of disbursement.

In light of the advice from the Attorney General, the National Treasury and Economic Planning confirm that it will commence disbursement to the NG-CDF tranches of Ksh2 billion on a weekly basis, with effect from 9th December 2022,” read the statement in part.

“The Attorney General has therefore advised that the NG-CDF of 2015  technically remains in force until such expressed declaration is formally made by the High Court or other superior court.”

In addition, CS Ndung’u noted that the national government would settle all liabilities incurred by the nullified CDF in response to the cries made by various stakeholders about pending bills.

The decision came after a prolonged push and pull between MPs and the National Treasury. MPs had threatened to boycott house business until their demands were adhered to.

In an earlier response to the MPs’ call, Treasury CS had noted that the government would act only after consulting the Attorney General regarding the particulars of the Supreme Court ruling that voided CDF.

Meanwhile, the legislators embarked on a process to entrench the NG-CDF in the constitution permanently.

MPs Open Up About Violence in Marriage

    0

  • Female Members of Parliament (MPs) on Thursday, December 1, shared their experiences of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at the hands of their loved ones.

The MPs revealed that their former and current partners have at some point in their lives become the aggressors.

In particular, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Gladys Boss told Journalists and female leaders that she was once forced to hire private security personnel to protect her.

“I have personally as an MP reported to the police violence meted on me, even when I got restraining orders against the person, police never helped, I was forced to higher young boys to help with my security,” Boss revealed.

Boss claimed that she reported to the police but the officers declined to take action against her aggressor.

The female leaders under the Kenya Women Parliamentarians Association (KEWOPA), asked the government to take serious action against anyone who assaults a woman.

While commemorating 16 days of gender activism, the women MPs accused the police of being complicit in cases of Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Aldai MP Maryanne Keitany also shared an incident where her aggressor forcefully evicted her from a house that she had built in 2018.

She revealed that police officers escorted those who were evicting her from the property.

Keitany decided to make her ordeal public to help the many women who were silently going through domestic abuse in their marriages.

“I decided to go through a court process and I made it public. So many people know me today, not because of my previous work but because of that court case, and many people have so far spoken out because of my experience because it was like a soap opera” Keitany confirmed.

KEWOPA vice chair Rosa Buyu has promised to work on legislation that will ensure the vice is uprooted from society.

“If members of parliament are going through such things, imagine what is happening to the common woman, and that is why we need to come up with innovative ways of fighting GBV, we must enhance our legislation and even involve men in this fight,” Buyu noted.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has warned spouses against conducting savage attacks against each other, noting that the long arms of the law will catch up with them.

“Violence against spouses, and women in particular must stop. It’s wrong and completely unnecessary,” Wetangula warned.

Other leaders who spoke include Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda who noted that GBV is still rife in the society despite the huge strides made in combating the vice.

“GBV doesn’t respect positions, it doesn’t respect class, anyone can go through it, and it’s our duty to make sure that we stop this vice,” Lesuuda lamented.

KPLC Warns Expectant Mothers Against Cooking With Charcoal, Wood

    0

  • Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) warned expectant mothers against the use of firewood or charcoal to cook.

According to KPLC, using the aforementioned heat sources endangers both pregnant women and their unborn babies.

“When pregnant women cook using charcoal or firewood, they inhale carbon monoxide that exposes them to health risks.

“Some of health issues include adverse birth and maternal health issues as well as the foetus developing health problems up to adulthood,” KPLC advised in a statement dated December 1, 2022.

It further warned that cooking solid fuels, such as wood and charcoal, causes household air pollution.

“This has become a leading cause of death and disability in many developing countries,” the company warned.

To avoid this adverse health issue, Kenya Power advised expectant mothers and the Kenyan general population to use electrical appliances for cooking.

KPLC’s statement came when electricity charges were expected to reduce after Kenya started importing cheap hydroelectric power from Ethiopia.

Even with additional electricity to the national power grid, most Kenyans still rely on solid and biomass fuels for cooking.

A report by SNV Netherlands Development Organisation found that 65 per cent of Kenyans rely on firewood as their primary fuel source.

“71 per cent of households in Kenya use firewood or charcoal as either their primary or secondary source of cooking fuel.”

“Majority of that number is located at rural areas where 92 per cent of the population use biomass fuel for cooking,” the report revealed.

With millions of Kenyans yet to be connected to the national grid, KPLC’s push for electric cooking could be a tall order.

The warning by KPLC came when the government is considering plans to revamp the country’s transport system by stepping up the establishment of electric car charging stations.

Such efforts are geared towards embracing green energy as the world grapples with effects of climate change.

Use of charcoal and wood as cooking energy in the country has seen Kenya’s forest cover drop. President William Ruto has already rolled out tree-planting programs, with youths who were involved in Kazi Mtaani initiative set to be on-boarded for the exercise.

Kamene Goro needs to heal from previous toxic relationships before talking marriage

    0

Just like most women out here who have been in toxic relationships, turns out that Kamene Goro also has dark history with an abusive ex she claims used to beat her up like a thief.

Yes, you see that hot Kamene Goro who keeps turning heads….she too took some serious beatings from a man she was dating; according to her – she still chose to stay because everytime she would talk about it….she’d be blamed for it like ‘kwani ulimfanyia nini…’ a common questions asked to GBV victims.

    Kamene Goro

We cannot fault you as a victim. What I want us to pick apart is how society makes it look like it is normal. What is it that you did? Sometimes, society gets you back to stay in abusive relationships and some parent also tells you to be calm in such relationships.

Kamene Goro goes on to add that after endimg things with the first guy, she hooked up with another pne who cheated on her 7 times…yes 7 times and guess what…she still stuck around. Speaking about this one said:

    Kamene Goro

I was a very forgiving person until I found myself being cheated on seven times and I don’t know the other times.

    Low self esteem?

Okay at this point im thinking…cheated on 7 times, beaten and still play house wife ama ni girlfriend? Aiii hapo ni ngumu.

But again, we can’t blame her because her first man reduced her to a drum which he would beat every now and then….plus I’m pretty sure there was also verbal abuse which might have messed with Kamene’s self esteem till date.

If i am right, this explains her choice in men and now that we know her current man, Dj Bonez started dating her while still married to his now ex-wife Eva Mkala alias Sasha – it shows iko kitu.

I mean her man is not only accused of cheating on his wife with her but has allegedly left his kids to suffer….yet she is comfortable living with the guy.

Okay…not that it’s any of my business…but makes her think he can’t do the same to her? Mmmh…but again like Andrew Kibe said and I am quoting “Kamene Goro settled” and maybe this will only stop after dealing with the pain she faced in her past relationships.

Motorists Cautioned as NTSA Intensifies Crackdowns

    0

  • The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) cautioned motorists flouting traffic rules during the December festive season in a rush to make more money.

Speaking on Thursday, December 1, at Mkomani grounds in Mombasa County, NTSA Director Registration and Licensing Christopher Kinyua Wanjau noted that motorists’ disregard of traffic rules had resulted in increased road accidents during the holiday season.

To tame road crashes, Wanjau insisted that the authority had intensified crackdowns on various highways. NTSA is collaborating with National Police Service (NPS) and other stakeholders to carry out the operations.

Part of the exercise will involve laying strategic traps to nab motorists violating traffic rules in the country.

Wanjau further disclosed that the safety authority had engaged various stakeholders to train motorists to address some human errors that lead to accidents.

During the exercise, NTSA would target reckless drivers, drunk drivers and those speeding. Others areas include failure to put on seat belts and not using helmets for boda boda riders.

The initiative involves training boda boda riders who are among the leading contributors of road accidents.

“We are working with all those stakeholders to ensure that this festive season to ensure the number of accidents reduce,” the NTSA official stated.

“The aim of this exercise is to increase road safety. We will have all riders trained on road safety aspect by NTSA,” one of the stakeholders added.

Stakeholders in the Public Service Sector (PSV) further called on the government to fast-track  reforms and plans aimed at protecting commuters during the December festive season.

According to NTSA report released on Thursday, November 17, the majority of road users who lost their lives were pedestrians and motorcylists.

17,550 people were involved in road accidents across the country in October alone.

“In October 2022, pedestrians (1413), motorcyclists (1,046), passengers (693), pillion passengers (363), drivers (356) and pedal cyclists (53) died,” NTSA report read in part.

Why Frankie JustGymit takes pride in being a deadbeat dad

    0

Frankie Just Gym it may not be making news like he used to but that doesnt mean he is not entertaining his followers on social media. If you follow him, i bet you’ve realize he likes making TikTok videos about baby mamas and deadbeat dads….and the funny part is – he enjoys them so much that he reshares the videos on his other social media pages.

Well the latest video, Frankie shows fans how he reacts once his woman tells him she is pregnant and….that is by dodging…a clip that left his following pointing fingers at him for being a toxic man. Yea, yea….its funny but at the same time offensive to his baby mamas especially since rumor has it that he is a deadbeat.

However despite knowing the clip would trigger a few single mums and dads out here, Frankie still shared it like it’s nothing. So what would explain the confidence behind this…..

    Had an absent dad

Judging from his insensitivity, clearly we cabt hwlp but ask whether his dad was around while growing up; because if he was – i am pretty sure he would have learnt a few things from him like, how to treat his baby mamas and girlfriends – which Frankie the gymist seems to have failed despite having been in the game for so many years.

    His women entertain his behavior

Well, we can’t just blame him without also looking at the women he is mocking. For example, Corazon Kwamboka went ahead to date and even have kids with the guy….knowing very well his other baby mama (Maureen Waititu) claims she gets no support from the fella. Maureen Waititu also fought for him like her life depended on it and yet – she was the bread winner in the family.

    Friends with similar character

If Frankie really had friends who are responsible dads, don’t you think this would have rubbed off on him? Like they say….show me your friends and I will tell you the person you are….and clearly Frankie’s actions speak for everyone he associates with.

    Carefree

Like the clip shows….Frankie loses interest the moment he learns about any of his women is expectant.

    Bags strong independent women

Looking at how hardworking Maureen Waititu is and how much millions Corazon Kwamboka made during her glory days….. I bet Frankie is always assured that his babies will be just fine – hence his behavior.

    0

  • Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina, one of the #Top100Kenyans2022,  once spent a night at a railway station in Boston, America, for lack of fare.

Speaking exclusively to Kenyans.co.ke on Wednesday, November 30, Ole Kina explained that he was a few dollars  short of the transport and had nobody to turn to for help.

A student at the University of Massachusetts at the time, he reckoned that even though the metro was the cheapest option, he could not meet the cost with his manual job.

“I have spent a night in a train station in the US because I did not have enough money yet I worked as a security guard, night auditor,” Ole Kina narrated.

The senator admitted that the hardships he went through shaped his life and moulded him into the leader he is today – one that resonated with the plight of the people.

“I consider myself as a voice of the voiceless. Someone who is out there to represent the interests of young Kenyans,” her remarked.

Looking back at the year, he termed 2022 as the most difficult of his life, highlighted by the August 9 General Election.

Ole Kina stated that while his preferred candidate had lost in an election, Azimio leader Raila Odinga’s loss to President William Ruto hit him hard.

“We gave it all, we traversed this country and never saw our families only for us to lose an election. I dont know what happened,” he stated.

The legislator insisted that Azimio’s victory was snatched but expressed hope that they would reclaim it in the near future.

Nonetheless, he vowed to give the Ruto administration sleepless nights to ensure that they deliver to  the people of Kenya. He also thanked the people of Narok for their loyalty.

“I am elated that my people decided to reward me in as much as I did not campaign for myself as much as I did for my party leader,” the Senator expressed.

Why we might never hear Director Rashid’s side of story after ex wife Nasra accused him of cheating & moving on with another woman

    0

Remember that time when Nasra announced she had parted ways with husband, Director Rashid? It was actually way before her miscarriage and i remember that after the announcemenr, the same Nasra came out claiming it was just a silly prank they decided to pull on their fans….but come to think of it – this was smoke from a little fire theyd tried to contain, but marriage ishachomeka.

    Nasra announces pregnancy

Okay at the time Nasra was still the one sharing these personal information on social media but looking at director Rashid….he just maintained his silence the whole time and even after he was accused of cheating….Director Rashid just remains mute.

Well, when you see a man acting like Director Rashid has been acting – one has to wonder….was he really in love with her or …’clearly this man is fed up with drama’ hence his silence, right?

    Nasra with husband, Director Rashid

Why Rashid maintance silence on divorce rumors

    Avoid drama

You see unlike women who overreact and cause drama after a break….men actually prefer sometime off especially if the breakup happens during a heated moment.

This is why you might see Rashid holding back from announcing anything on his pages….simply because, chances are that he might not be done with Nasra….and to avoid looking like an immature man, he chooses to remain silent hence letting Nasra do the damage by oversharing.

    Protect mental health

Whats better than to protect your own peace of mind? I dont thing there’s anything better than choosing yourself when things get toxic…and judging from how Nasra has been talking…..we can already tell why maybe Rashid isnt saying anything….more of like kibaya chajitembeza, kizuri cha jiuza…

    Moved on already

Another reaaon I believe director Rashid remians silent on the divorce rumors is because he already moved after figuring out the woman he married wasnt what he wanted. Or maybe…because Islam allows a muslim man to marry upto 4 wives….maybe his new alleged woman has been in the picture the whole time but Nasra did not want to share.

    Not compatible

Do you know that you can actually get over a person youve been in love with for years, the moment you move in and start living together?

It happens because this time around the fights will be in person and not texts….then you realize hapana, I cant do this and just like that you start wondering why you even rushed into marriage.
