  • A city resident was left stranded after unknown men kidnapped him at the Chiromo and Westlands’ road junction near a police stop and fleed with his Ksh6 million in cash.

The man reported the incident at Parklands Police Station on Friday, November 18.

Reports claimed that he was allegedly on his way from a forex bureau where he exchanged US dollars for Kenyan shillings.

The victim allegedly was given Ksh6.1 million (USD 50,000) by his brother but managed to exchange Ksh6 million (USD 49,400) only.

He then boarded a boda boda heading back to an estate around Eastleigh before police officers stopped the bike.

Minutes later, the victim was bundled into a private car by two unidentified people who sped away, leaving the boda boda rider in shock.

According to the police reports, the car had no number plates making it hard to identify it.

The victim was later abandoned at an unknown location. Confused and in shock, he took another boda boda and headed to the nearby police station to file a report.

His phone was, however, not stolen since he used it to call his brother and alert him about the incident.

This followed an earlier incident on Thursday, November 17, where a Chinese national reported that he was robbed of Ksh1 million cash by traffic police officers.

According to a police report filed at Muthagari Police Station, the foreigner was stopped by the cops at a roadblock along Othaya Road.

The cops ransacked his car and fled with his money stashed in an envelope.

One of the officers, however, left behind his cap. The victim’s lawyers stated that the cap will be used to track down the officers and also act as an exhibit in court.

“He parked his car beside the road, whereby they took his driving licence and the car keys,” read the police report in part.
