  • Muthangari and Kiambu Police Stations invited bidders to purchase impounded vehicles in upcoming public auctions.

In a gazette notice dated Friday, November 18, Astorion Auctioneers – acting for the two stations, indicated that the vehicles had been unclaimed for a long time.

The police also indicated that they needed to be repaired, as they had overstayed at the stations.

Other than the cars, the auction would also include impounded motorcycles and scrap metals.

The decision to auction the vehicles was necessitated by a court directive, according to the two police stations.

“This notice is issued pursuant to the provisions of the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act (Cap 38) of the laws of Kenya and follows an authority and order under Miscellaneous Application Case No E468 of 2022 and E465 of 2022 by Chief Magistrate’s Court at Kiambu,” read the notice in part.

Consequently, affected motorists were advised to collect the vehicles in the next 30 days or be auctioned.

“Failure to which Astorion Auctioneers, Nairobi shall proceed to dispose of the said motor vehicles, motorcycles and scrap by way of public auction on behalf of the two stations if they remain uncollected/unclaimed,” read the notice in part.

However, the prices for the auctions were not included in the notice.

Some of the cars on sale include Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Honda, Probox, and Subaru, among others.

Details of the vehicles were also included in the notice to enable real owners to claim their cars.

The owners of the vehicles were advised to visit any of the stations with documentation to prove their true ownership.
