Umoja Summit Party leader and former presidential aspirant, Walter Mong’are also known as Nyambane, graduated on Thursday, November 17, with a university degree after 26 years of studies.
Mong’are celebrated his new achievement by posting photos of himself in a Daystar University graduation gown.
“God has been faithful. Glory be to the highest. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement,” he appreciated.
“Luke 2:52 – And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man,” he added.
A section of Kenyans, comprising his schoolmates and friends congratulated him.
“Congratulations sir I felt good graduating with you,” Jane Shiko added.
At long last you’ve made it,congratulations. Your dreams are valid,” Sheila Santos added.
Nyambane in a past interview noted that he registered for the degree at Daystar in 2016 and studied for three years before completing his academic journey.
Mong’are explained that he was allowed to take a three-year academic transfer from his former institution, Kenyatta University.
The comedian joined Kenyatta University in 1996 but was discontinued in 2000 due to failure to attend lectures as he turned to comedy and business.
He then returned to Kenyatta University in 2005 to appeal the decision to discontinue him but never graduated due to career demands.
In June 2022, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) disqualified Mong’are from vying for the presidency, ruling that he lacked a university degree.
Nyambane, who had previously been approved by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to seek the top seat, was ultimately barred after the commission revoked his nomination certificate on June 6, 2022.
“As the chief returning officer, upon discovering new information on Walter Mong’are as relates to lack of academic qualifications, I invited him to appear before me today at 2 pm to clarify the issue. He failed to honour the invitation,” Chebukati noted.
