  • K24 news anchor Daniel Kituu shared his journey in the media industry which landed him an opportunity of interviewing President William Ruto.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, on Sunday, February 19, Kituu recounted his first experience with the head of state during the joint media interview that happened on January 4.

He revealed that he was full of confidence during the interview at State House as he believed in himself.

For the career journalist who covered the January 2019 DusitD2 attack live on location, interviewing the President was a special moment for him.

“Given that I handle political interviews I had confidence, I knew it was a great opportunity because this time I was to get answers from the president in regards to issues affecting Kenyans.

“It is the dream of most journalists to have a sit down with the president and get his views on many issues affecting Kenyans, we do this for the viewers,” he explained.

Being a great Swahili anchor, Kituu wasn’t surprised when his boss delivered an in-house communication that he would represent the media house in the joint interview which saw  KTN News veteran anchor Ali Manzu, KBC’s Nancy Okware, NTV‘s Frederick Muitiriri, and Citizen TV‘s Nimrod Taabu also participate in the joint interview.

“I put to question the president of how the hustler fund which was meant to boost small business would achieve its goal and yet some hustlers can’t afford a meal and end up loaning from the fund to get food,” he noted.

Kituu joined Mediamax services in June 2020 as a Swahili news anchor and Swahili news editor.

“I host a political and current affairs show called Kikaoni K24 that airs every Monday at 7 PM. In the show I cover a range of topics; Politics, Education, Climate and Environment, and Health,” he stated.

Even after joining K24 when the station was experiencing mass exodus of top talents including award-winning journalist Shiksha Arora, Eric Njoka, Fred Indimuli, Isabella Kituri, and Karen Kibet, among others affected, Kituu was excited about the new experience.

“Joining K24 was an opportunity for growth, K24 is an established brand,” he told Kenyans.co.ke

The Swahili guru joined Switch TV in September 2018 as a Swahili news anchor and was later promoted to a Swahili news editor.

“At Switch Tv I Produced Swahili news bulletins and anchored the 1 PM bulletin which was in Swahili,”

I also hosted a show called Nuru ya Afrika that aired every Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm. The show covered different African stories; news from the continent and features,” he narrated.

Before joining the Redcross owned TV station, he worked at Focus TV where he began as an intern in 2016. After the internship, he worked in the station for two years and six months where he headed the Swahili desk, anchored the 7 PM bulletin, and also acted as a reporter.

“My media journey started at Pwani TV where I was an intern in the year 2016. I worked at Pwani Tv for 3 months as an intern,” he stated.

The K24 journalist attended Mount Kenya University from the year 2013 to the year 2016 where he pursued a Bachelor’s of mass communication and graduated with First Class honors.

“I then attended Jomo Kenyatta University from the year 2018 to the year 2022 where I graduated with a masters degree in Corporate Communication,” he added.

He went to Shimo la Tewa high school in Mombasa for his Secondary education.
