  • A bartender at a local in Kamakis along the Eastern By-pass was critical to the arrest of three women accused of attempting to rob three men after spiking their drinks.

This was after his report led to the arrest of the three women aged 36, 34, and 30 by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

According to a statement by the DCI on Monday, February 13, the three men, who had visited the local eatery invited the women over to their table to share a meal and drinks.

“The men were unaware that they had unintentionally invited a marauding group of women who were only there to steal from them rather than have fun,” the DCI indicated.

According to the statement from the DCI, the unsuspecting men shared a few drinks with the women before they were drugged.

“The women put a sedative in the drinks and started wooing the men, whispering to them that it was about time,” the directorate explained.

However, just when the women were about to steal from their victims, the bartender noticed that the men who seemed dazed were behaving unusually.

He immediately raised the alarm and alerted officers from the DCI who immediately pounced arresting the women after finding them in possession of sedatives.

“Our officers who responded immediately, and upon a quick search, recovered stupefying tablets from them.

The suspects were thereafter taken into custody at Ruiru police station pending to wait for their presentation and charging in court.

In a separate incident in July 2022, DCI officers recovered a gun that had been stolen from a police officer who was a victim of a gang of drink-spiking women.

DCI stated that the women were in an organised crime unit that hired the weapon to multiple gangs that reigned terror on business especially mobile money agents.

“Using the firearm, the gang made away with over Ksh10 million shillings from agents alone,” DCI stated.
