Govt Unveils Ksh 350K Posh Seat Designed by Prisoners

  • Kenya Prisons Service (KPS) through the State Department for Correctional Services on Saturday, February 11, announced Valentine’s offer for its luxurious furniture designed and made by prisoners.

    Among items that will be on sale include a 7-seater box Sofa Set complimented with a glass coffee table.

    KPS further announced that there will be various designs of day beds that will be on sale.

    “Go beyond the flowers this Valentine, surprise your loved ones” KPS announced while advertising the furniture items.

    If you are willing to buy the 7-seater box Sofa Set, you will have to part with Ksh350,000 and get a complimentary glass coffee table.

    The day beds come in different designs with the cheapest one retailing at Ksh45,000. The price can go as high as Ksh100,000.

    Those willing to buy the items must visit KPS’s showroom at the Prison’s Furniture Shop, located at Magereza House, Nairobi.

    In an earlier exclusive interview with Kenyans.co.ke, National Police Spokesperson Resila Atieno Onyango revealed that the furniture items were made by inmates in various rehabilitation facilities across the country.

    KPS prides itself in making high-quality furniture that is unparalleled in many furniture shops across the country.

    To make them stand out, the pieces of furniture are carefully crafted using hardwood materials and quality finishings,” Resila confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke.

    According to the State Department for Correctional Services, furniture items can be bought by any member of the public.

    Apart from the Prison’s Furniture Shop at Magereza House, members of the public can access furniture items at rehabilitation facilities across the country.

    Other items that are on sale include; beds, cabinets, and storage benches.
