Sultana Actress Bwire Ndubi Shares Her Battle With Cancer

  • Actress Winfred Bwire Ndubi, widely known by her on-screen character ‘Dida’ on Citizen TV show Sultanarecently revealed that she has silently been battling breast cancer.

    The artist who doubles up as a scriptwriter, actress, songwriter, painter, singer and interior designer disclosed to her Instagram followers that she was on the last lap of her treatment. 

    Ms Ndubi revealed her battle with cancer to mark the end of the annual breast cancer awareness campaign that is usually commemorated in October.

    “As we mark the end of the breast cancer awareness month, I’d love to appreciate your love and support through my journey,” she shared with her Instagram followers.

    The actress who is also an interior designer, a professional baker, a businesswoman and a mother expressed her gratitude to her friends and family for all the support that they accorded her.

    “Those in the know walked with me from the very beginning. We’re almost at the end of the lap,” wrote Ms Ndubi adding that her cancer journey has made her more courageous, stronger and inspired her to be the person she is today.

    She also offered a piece of advice urging people to take regular medical check-ups and screenings to know their health statuses and address medical issues before it is too late.

    In an earlier interview with The Standard Media, Ms Ndubi revealed that she struggled with her skin colour.

    “My skin colour has been the greatest challenge in my acting career. This affected me because I am an extra dark girl,” she observed.

    Considering the pain and struggles that cancer patients often experience, Ms Ndubi’s fans expressed admiration for her confidence and strength going public with her struggle.

    As breast cancer awareness month ends, attention now turns to the No Shave November campaign that happens in November every year with the aim of raising awareness of cancer.

    The No-Shave November is often commemorated to grow awareness on cancer by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.
