  • Paul Ndichu and his brother Eddie Ndichu on Thursday, November 25, responded to Cheryl Murgor and her sister Stephanie Murgor’s press statement decrying the direct influence of the ODPP in the matter of the incident at Ole Sereni a few weeks back.

The duo, through their advocate Edwin Sifuna hit out at the Murgor sisters in a press release, stating that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (OPDD) and the Lang’ata Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations Office (DCIO) are not subject to direction or control of anyone, including ‘famous uncles.’

They cited influence from sisters’ ‘famous uncles’ connections to intimidate the ODPP and DCIO Lang’ata into leveling the charges against them.

“We have in the past raised the alarm on attempts by these lawyers to use “old networks” in the ODPP to intimidate the ODPP and DCIO Langata into leveling unsupported charges against the Ndichus in order to use those charges to blackmail them into settling a matter in which they are innocent.,” the statement read.

They accused the sisters of deliberately failing to honour police summons to answer to charges of assault and causing harm to Munira Munira.

“The Police have clearly been intimidated into extending preferential treatment to them because they carry a famous last name,” the statement further revealed.

Through the statement, the brothers called for the immediate arrest of the Murgor sisters, failure to which a formal complaint will be lodged against the Lang’ata DCIO.

They also vehemently refuted claims made by the Murgor sisters to settle the matter in an out-of-court agreement, clarifying that they have made no offers to them.

“As such our position remains that we want to meet these extortionists in court. We will not negotiate with criminals,” the statement read.

This comes after the Murgor sisters through their lawyer Philip Murgor, revealed that they, alongside Samuel Ramdas and Patrick Koech, had rejected an out-of-court settlement with the Ndichu twins.

He stated that despite a directive by DPP Noordin Haji on November 17 to charge Paul and Eddie, it was still yet to happen.

Murgor also claimed that he received a call from Lang’ata Deputy Director of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO), who recently took over the case, asking him to present Cheryl and Patrick to record a statement and provide fingerprints, after which they would be charged.

The city lawyer revealed that he had written to Haji, asking him to review the file and give appropriate directions on how the offense of affray should be investigated.
