What Next After Primary or High School Examination Results? Finding Success With Your Unique and Natural Talent

With just-released Primary and soon-to-be-released Secondary School Examination results, conversations in most neighbourhoods are either geared towards establishing how the obedient child performed or if the naughty pupil with a natural affinity for trouble finally proved the critics right.

For parents, the more immediate concern is the secondary schools or college or university their children will join, plans for fees and the possibility of bagging a scholarship among other logistical concerns.

The excitement around exams has been ingrained in our African culture – year after year, we celebrate top performers with the most anticipated question being what careers they intend to pursue. Traditionally respected careers in engineering, medicine and law are often fronted as the obvious career paths to yearn for.

Amidst this commotion and emphasis on grades, the role talent plays in making career choices is either completely forgotten or brushed over. Understandably, between putting food on the table and working hard for their future, parents hardly ever have enough time to get involved in their kids’ lives and figure out their talents.

At school, the next site where talents could have been identified and nurtured also doesn’t offer much to elevate these natural interests into formidable career paths at an early age.

The unfortunate end product of the current curriculum is that children are pushed into career paths that they don’t really have a passion for, let alone talent to succeed in them. They end up pursuing post-secondary programmes that they hate. What is left is the regret of the many years wasted!

What Really is Talent?

Talent is generally defined as the innate ability or natural endowment for accomplishment in any given field. This is an oversimplification. What most people mistake as talents or gifts are actually manifestations of the talent. Sports, art, poetry, dance, comedy, etc which are merely exhibited opportunities of talent, are themselves seen at the talent.

This is wrong as “talent is you with your unique metric values” that can be unearthed through Professional and Scientific Assessment of Talent.

With the advancement in technology, you can now unearth true human values that define talent and giftedness hence you will be able to know the career of your child 4-year old some 20-30 years in advance.

How does talent differ from a gift?

Every human has his/her own unique values. Therefore, everyone has a talent. So talent is not limited to sports, comedy, music, etc. There is talent in all spheres including science, languages, etc

However, some people may have dominant talent values in many domains, which are active in the real world. Such are rare people and constitute just about 12% of the world population. Such people are the ones defined as gifted.

If it is found, after Professional Assessment of Talent, that one is gifted, The World Talent Federation and associates, will immediately swing into action to protect and provide for them as such people are the ones who will plan our future politics, economies and social destinies. Such provisions may include full scholarships to Ivy League Universities or cash rewards to help you lift off your gifted enterprises. That is why, for example, today,  you see very young kids under 10 years achieving degrees while being fully sponsored financially.

But it must be pointed out that being academically bright DOES NOT mean that you are gifted much as it could be.

What is Professional Talent and Gift Assessment?

To unearth an individual’s talent, professional screening and assessment must be undertaken. It is very similar to what happens when you walk into a hospital for a check-up.

It works in the same way doctors recommend scientific tests after preliminary reviews. From the results, doctors can either confirm or dismiss certain illnesses.

This Professional Assessment of Talent is structured into three important steps;

"
Process

What next after Professional and Scientific Assessment of Talent?

After the assessment, a Talent Report (like a medical report from doctors) will be generated by the experts containing the career domains forecast and related delimiters and shared with interested parties like the talent developers, educators, mentors and interested parties.

From here, a Learning Prescription (like a medical prescription from doctors) will next be generated by Specific Talent Experts that will be used to guide the talent development process.  It includes necessary intellectual/academic schemes alongside your prior achievements.

Talent Based Learning

The Talent Development process, above, is what constitutes the Talent Based Learning (TBL).

Unlike academic or symptom-based learning processes (e.g Competence-Based and/or Ability / Passion/Interest-Based Learning, etc ) that emphasize on specific outcomes like grades, TBL is based on the concept of ‘there must be a professional medical assessment before prescription’.

Talent thus becomes the driver for passion/competence/ interest, etc resulting in ‘intuitive learning’ rather than ‘academic learning for grades’.

In TBL, the career of a learner is known beforehand and the learning process assembles learning kits that best match the learning, product and expression styles of the learner (the Talent/Learning Prescription).

It further connects learners with specific experts in their talent genres and domains. So, you naturally evolved through your unique talent.

Talent Based Learning Experts

Expert trainers or educators in Talent Development, as well as mentors, are used to develop specific talent through the prescription. Academic clinics may also equally be used.

For specific talent genres and domains, Talent experts in the specific talent are invited to provide specialized guide, advice and interventions.

Obtaining your degree through Talent Based Learning – The Credit Transfer

During the talent development and academic clinics sessions and tasks, “credit values” emerge. Experts in non-verbal assessments determine the credits and normalise them. Credits are then transferable for awards e.g diplomas, degrees in Member Universities that understand TBL. Fame Awards will also be issued.

Member Universities are those that have signed with World Talent Federation specifically agreeing that a Talent Report together with Talent/Learning Prescriptions, can be used for admission even if there are “low” or “ no” grades from traditional education systems. There are currently 147 such universities which are accredited and listed by UNESCO hence worldwide acceptance and recognition of their final documents in the forms of diplomas, bachelors, masters or doctoral degrees obtained via the Talent Based Learning process.

Schedule a Professional Talent Assessment Today Online

In Africa, The Gates Africa Group offers this Professional Talent Assessment and undertakes Talent Based Learning.

You can start this Professional and Scientific Assessment of Talent online (for children, teenagers, youth and adults)

Is this Assessment of Talent only for children? Can adults also be assessed?

The good old days when graduates would have plum jobs waiting for them are long gone. Pursuing a college degree/diploma or forcing your child to take a course because of their grades, or lack of it is a sure recipe for disaster.

Professional Talent Assessment is open to all ages. The assessment is done slightly different for children (4-12 years), Teenagers ( 13-19 years), Youth (20-30years) and adults ( over 30 years).

For adults, it further includes evaluation of your work and life experience to determine “prior credits” based on the said life and work experience (visit www.cael-africa.org for more information).

It is important, thus, that everyone knows their “full and true” God-Given Value (known as talent) before embarking on any learning system. Otherwise, you will be like someone swimming in the ocean without a destination or someone investing in a business without a business plan or a doctor providing an injection without any pre-diagnosis.
