IPOB has dragged the Nigerian High Commission to Kenya into the whole saga. The group alleges that a senior envoy is the one who negotiated with Kenya on how to abduct Kanu and extradite him to Nigeria.
The statement dragging Kenyan officials into the saga was released by IPOB’s media publicity, Emma Powerful.
Emma insisted that a Member of Kenya’s Cabinet was offered money in exchange for Kanu.
“The attention of the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led our great leader Mai Nnamdi Kanu has been drawn to the lame denial by the Kenyan Ambassador to Nigeria, Winfred Machage, of Kenya’s involvement in the criminal abduction of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.â€
“This denial is another smart but belated attempt to cover up their atrocity but unfortunately for them, we already have inconvertible evidence of how the dirty deal between Nigeria and Kenya was struck. Our intelligence gatherings have revealed all those involved in this heinous crime,” the statement goes on to say.
The group has also insisted that Kanu was abducted and tortured by Kenyan authorities for eight days before he was extradited.
They go on to claim that a high-ranking government official was blinded by the promise of money and oil before he agreed to the deal.
“From our intelligence, Kenya betrayed our leader because of financial inducement and offer of oil by Nigeria. The negotiations were midwived by a Nigerian envoy in Nairobi who bargained with the Kenyan Immigration Authorities. Kenyan officials were blinded with the oil offer and consented to this wickedness,†their statement read.
The group has also maintained that the boycott on Kenyan products and services is still on.
Kenyan.co.ke contacted the Ministry of foreign affairs who declined to comment on the matter.
