  • National Media Group (NMG) has on October 6, 2021, celebrated two of its longest-serving news anchors as the duo marked 13 years on screen.

In a post on their official Twitter account, NTV, a tv station owned by NMG,  posted a video of the dynamic duo hosting their first news bulletin in 2008.

The TV station also congratulated the journalists for their remarkable achievement.

“13 years ago today, Mark Masai and Smriti Vidyarthi went on-air together for the first time,” NTV noted while sharing the video.

The two journalists also took to social media to celebrate each other, stating that they had created a special bond since hosting their first news bulletin together.

“How it started with partner Smirti Vidyarthi on our first time. You are more than a colleague,” Masai stated.

On her part, Vidyarthi took the moment to state that it wasn’t easy to reach that milestone while encouraging her fans to follow their dreams and aspirations.

“We are all destined for something! 13 years at NTV Kenya. Who would have thought! But we’re still here for a reason. It’s been good, and we’re grateful. Believe in yourself, just like we did,” she tweeted.

Social media users also took the opportunity to celebrate the two for achieving such a great milestone and becoming one of the longest media pairs in the industry.

“Always a reliable team in news delivery. Mature and Eloquent. Happy to have been part of that 13 years as your faithful viewer,” one netizen observed.

Some of the online users teased the journalists because of their dress code – baggy suits that were the trendy fashion at the time.

“Ok, but did you borrow the suit. Because…,” KTN news anchor Linda Ogutu joked.
