  • Award winning news anchor Waihiga Mwaura, revealed that an online Ponzi Scheme used his name to lure and scam Kenyans.

He came to know about the situation after receiving a phone call from an individual who identified himself as a doctor. The man asked Waihiga whether he had interviewed a Kenyan tycoon concerning the site.

Little did he know that word on the street was that him and Chris Kirubi had endorsed the cryptocurrency trading platform.

On his social media platforms, he put up a spirited fight. He warned kenyans not to fall victim to the fraudulent scheme.

However, he was concerned with the change of tactic by the fraudsters every now and then.

Self-styled businessman Chris Kirubi, when asked about his endorsement of the trading platform, completely denied any affiliation.

In addition to that, Kirubi advised Kenyans to approach investments with caution. He advised them to conduct extensive research on the schemes.

According to cyber security reports, fraudulent sites have the ability to impersonate a legitimate website through cloning or domain impersonation.

They use the forged version of the website or social media account to lure unknowing individuals. Usually, they impersonate well-known websites that have built credibility on related businesses.

Barely a month ago, hundreds of Kenyans lost their money to ‘Amazon Web Worker’, after the app was abruptly deleted from Google Playstore, which turned out to be a Ponzi Scheme.

They were to make money through a referral system. If you had an account then referred family or a friend to join, you would be rewarded with a certain percentage of that money.

The Central Bank Of Kenya has cautioned against investing in pyramid schemes.
