Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter has finally come clean about why he has been missing in the political scene for the better part of the last two years.

In a sit down with the Daily Nation on Tuesday, February 25, the once fierce critic of Deputy President William Ruto explained that he made the decision in order to concentrate on his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) programme he is pursuing.

He further explained that it was a crucial decision to make because he did not want to end up like some unnamed politicians he claimed only registered for degrees and later purchased certificates.

“I took time off politics to pursue my Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Nairobi. I am taking my sweet time to complete my studies, away from the hectic and frenzied political arena.

“I wanted to concentrate on my studies … I am not like some politicians who enroll for a degree, miss classes and end up buying the academic papers,” he stated.

The vocal MP made his debut into the murky world of politics in 2007 when he ran for the Starehe MP seat and lost.

He shifted his tactic and went for the Nandi Hills seat which he clinched in 2013.

“I support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), which l believe will fix Kenya’s perennial problems. BBI is a good initiative.

“I thank President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga for the BBI. It is high time Kenyans from all walks of life, young and old, male and female, come together and engage constructively to benefit from the BBI,” he stated on March 9, 2018, in praise of the handshake between Uhuru and Raila.

Keter vanished from the limelight in 2018 at the height of a scandal he had been dragged into regarding Ksh633 million forged Treasury bills dated way back in 1990.

The issue had been brought up by Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge who reportedly called the Nandi Hill MP at the time demanding to see him urgently. Shortly after the encounter, the lawmaker was arrested.
