The family received two expectant cows that were delivered by Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyaga.
A photo of Nyambura, her daughter and the president went viral the better part of last week after a chance meeting with the president who was conducting an impromptu inspection of the Gakoe Water Treatment Plant.
A video seen by kenyagist.com showed Nyambura and fellow villagers celebrating after the cows were brought to their homestead.
During the chance meeting, Nyambura had requested the president to provide her family with a cow saying it would help them cater to their needs.
She added that her daughter’s husband had died, forcing her back home with their two children.
Nyambura had been forced to take care of the family, something that weighed heavily upon her shoulders.
“At first I was scared to approach him as he had been surrounded by bodyguards.
“He, however, instructed us not to leave until we shared a conversation. When he finished touring the site, I went to him and shared my family’s plight,” Wanjiku stated.
Some of the villagers had thought that Nyambura was too modest with her request to the president.
They argued that they would have asked for money, land or a house.
“I would not have allowed Uhuru to leave without catering to my needs which would include a 5-acre piece of land, a five-bedroomed house, Ksh10 million funds,” a resident stated.
