The BBC anchor held a low-key ruracio (dowry payment ceremony) at their Murang’a home in December 2021. The two met while working at K24 TV where Kuria started as a cameraperson and Kanja served as a senior graphics designer.

The two knew each other for five years but officially began dating three years ago.

The journalist joined K24 TV as a camera operator after graduating from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
