Kuria wed her fiance, Joseph Kanja, in a church ceremony attended by close friends and family members. kenyagist.com obtained pictures of the ceremony where Kuria donned a lavish white gown.
Family, friends and the clergy blessed the couple at the low-key wedding ceremony.
The BBC anchor held a low-key ruracio (dowry payment ceremony) at their Murang’a home in December 2021. The two met while working at K24 TV where Kuria started as a cameraperson and Kanja served as a senior graphics designer.
The two knew each other for five years but officially began dating three years ago.
Before the wedding, Kuria’s friends threw a surprise bridal shower for her. The BBC journalist shared the video of her girlfriends’ surprise expressing her gratitude to them.
Kuria shared photos of her new soulmate on her social media handles. She captioned the simple pictures they took in a dark background as ‘And we’re standing here Only because You made a way.’
She was dressed in bold brown, blue and yellow prints Kitenge matching those on Kanja’s white shirt. The groom was also donning brown pants.
The journalist joined K24 TV as a camera operator after graduating from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
She, however, developed a passion for feature stories and rose through the ranks to become one of the country’s best reporters and anchors.
She later moved to KTN News before moving again to CGTN in January 2021. In September, she was unveiled as the latest face of giant broadcaster BBC, headquartered in London.
