  • On Saturday, October 3, a video clip of Kapseret Member of Parliament, Oscar Sudi, attacking Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, for poorly advising Deputy President William Ruto went viral on social media.

The clip was deemed odd by many considering that the two leaders are associated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party headed by the DP, who is in the race to succeed his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta next year.

In the 30-second clip, Sudi warns Murkomen against misleading the DP regarding the leadership of the vote-rich North Rift region.

“We want to tell him that if Murkomen can be anyone’s adviser, lets warn him that all the gossip he takes to the DP regarding Rift Valley leadership. You will stop that brokerage,” Sudi states in the clip.

“You keep talking about KANU (Kenya African National Union) and yet you are driving (your agenda) towards where KANU was. You should go take care of yourself,” warned Sudi.

The clip made rounds with critics of the DP speculating that the party, in which Sudi and Murkomen are notable members, was experiencing turbulence.

kenyagist.com has, however, established that the clip was recorded in 2016 at a time when the two leaders were on opposing sides.

Speaking to this writer, youth leader Cornelius Rono, confirmed that the clip surfaced during a by-election in Rift Valley in which Sudi supported a candidate associated with KANU.

“That video was recorded in 2016. It was during a Kericho by-election and Sudi was supporting a KANU candidate while Murkomen was against them,” he stated.

At the time, Sudi had partially decamped to KANU after falling out with Jubilee and even declared that he was ready to lose his Parliamentary seat.

He had also fallen out with United Repubican Party (URP) which was headed by the DP and dissolved after merger with The National Alliance (TNA) and 13 other parties.

Sudi had complained that leaders were being muzzled by the ruling Jubilee Party even though the economy continued to deteriorate.
