Standard Group Launches Media Academy to Empower Its Journalists

  • Standard Media Group journalists are set to gain new skills after the media house launched a unique training program in partnership with Women In News Africa.

    The program, Standard stated, will empower journalists with state-of-the-art skills to conquer everyday challenges in the industry.

    Notably, Women In News has continued to support women in the media to create a positive work culture while increasing the development of leadership skills. 

    Queenter Mbori, the first president of the Standard Group Women News (SGWN), noted that the program will offer a balanced representation of women in the media.

    “As the first president of SGWN, I am very proud to have steered this project and many others over the years,” she added

    In the WIN Mentorship program, media practitioners are set to develop structured learning and grow their networks in the industry.

    Furthermore, the program will provide ongoing mentorship support to the apprentice to enable them to initiate necessary changes that propel their careers forward.

    Also, the participants will have the opportunity to interact with individuals from various organizations from at least 10 countries spread across Sub-Saharan Africa and beyond.

    Journalists in the country, undergo training to help them cope with the changing scope of the media industry.

    Recently, Royal Media Services (RMS) journalists were trained at a workshop organised by the Voice of America (VoA). 

    The training was aimed at refining the managerial skills needed in the digital broadcasting field.
