Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, on Tuesday, October 15, took to his social media pages to shed light on his whereabouts after Citizen TV questioned where he was amid chaos at City Hall in the past week.

“As the county chokes in controversy, protest and turmoil in the County Assembly chambers, Governor Mike Sonko is missing in action. In two weeks the governor has visited several places starting from Dubai, flew all the way to Italy and to France.

“Throughout all this, he has not shied from posting his pictures online, showing how much he is having fun,” news anchor Trevor Ombija stated.

Embattled Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi accused Majority Leader Abdi Guyo of authoring the chaos that was witnessed upon her return

In a statement on the governor’s Facebook page, he stated that he was out of the country on official capacity.

“In the last week starting Monday 7th October, I have been out of the country on an official tour where I visited Europe (France) Montpellier, Copenhagen (Denmark) and Asia (South Korea) to attend keynote events where other major cities of the world were represented by my counterparts,” Sonko stated.

The governor further stated that it was important for him to interact with other leaders to help him make notable changes in the county.

“Besides being there to represent Nairobi, I also learned numerous valuable lessons on climate change and sustainable development, which I plan to implement in Nairobi County,” he highlighted.

Sonko stated that he would not have anticipated chaos in the County Assembly. The chaos had been prompted by the return of Nairobi County Speaker Beatrice Elachi.

“To my beloved critics who I love a lot for making me stronger and even stronger every day and who say I could have made a difference if I was around during the skirmishes that happened at the County Assembly, I would like to tell them Mimi sio Mungu ama Malaika kujua (I am not God or an angel, I can’t predict) what will happen while I’m away,” he concluded.
