The 47-year-old man is said to have gone to his in-laws seeking to have his wife and children return home on Friday, March 27 when the family turned on him.
The incident occurred in Kitui Central – and left the whole residents in deep shock.
According to the area assistant chief John Munyoki, the man’s parents-in-law, his estranged wife, and children attacked him upon arrival and dumped him along a road.
The man succumbed to his injuries moments after the in-laws called his parents asking them to collect him.
“We rushed to the scene together with the chief and police officers but found that he had already died where he had been dumped. We have arrested them all,” said the area Assistant Chief.
The police arrived at the scene where they arrested the wife, children, and the in-laws.
“He has been having issues with his wife for a very long time, and although he was seeking reconciliation, his in-laws appeared to have given up on him,” stated the chief.
In a most recent case, a 49-year-old woman was sentenced to a one-day non-custodial sentence for killing her husband on December 15, 2020.
Judge Roselyne Aburili of the High Court in Siaya established that the woman, Truphena Aswani, had suffered at the hands of her violent husband.
The judge recommended that Aswani seek counselling after the traumatic experience she had undergone throughout her marriage.
It was also noted that the woman had stayed and cared for her husband despite his HIV-positive status.
