The late Tob Cohen’s widow Sarah Wairimu Cohen has renewed her war with both Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti and Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji demanding a Ksh500 million payout.

According to a report carried by People Daily Newspaper on Thursday, December 19, the embattled widow filed a suit against the two arguing that she demands the money as damages for the detention of the matrimonial Kitisuru home she termed as illegal.

In the documents, Sarah also wants Kinoti to be compelled to appear in court in person to give an account of the status of the property she allegedly co-owned with her late husband.

Broken down, the widow demands that the DCI boss furnishes her with a full report on the inventory of the items in her house and what they are doing to ensure the quality remains intact.

Sarah Wairimu Cohen and her lawyer Philip Murgor in court. Murgor submitted an oral application on behalf of Sarah on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.

She argued that she spent 12 years in the home and that it was registered under both their names.

“Wairimu and Cohen jointly own all that property known as LR No. 2951/449, situated at FarasiLane, Mugumoini Close in Tower Kabete, Nairobi, which, the property was jointly purchased on or about June 7, 2000 and registered in the deceased’s name, by mutual agreement,” read the court papers.

The demands come after the DCI closed off the property terming it as an active crime scene under police investigations.

The body of the late billionaire was found in a septic tank at the home in September 2019 and an autopsy revealed that he was hit by a blunt object in the head.

In her application, Sarah also demanded that the state provide her with the death certificate of her husband.

Sarah had earlier filed a suit against the DCI questioning their intention in taking over the property that was handed over to Tob’s sister Gabrielle Van Straten.

Reports had, however, indicated that the Kitisuru home which was valued at Ksh400 million was bequeathed to Straten based on a will left by the deceased tycoon.
