  • Deputy President William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto have urged Kenyans to extend love and care to each other during this festive period.

The DP in a special message to Kenyans on December 24, 2020, took note of the challenges endured by the country as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, urging members of the public to be strong and united in these tough times.

DP Ruto and Mama Rachel referred to 2020, as a year that the country had to learn from, further urging Kenyans to care for one another.

Mama Rachel Ruto poses with Deputy President William Ruto.

“Fellow Kenyans, 2020 has been a unique time in our lives with many lessons. The biggest lesson of 2020 is that no one regardless of rank or status is invincible,” DP Ruto stated.

“Indeed we are all vulnerable. We have learned that our lives are so intertwined. Our interests united in webs of mutuality. During this Christmas we should remember those more in need than ourselves and perform the godly duty of extending solidarity and compassion their way,” Mama Rachel added.

DP Ruto paid tribute to healthcare workers, acknowledging their tremendous efforts in the fight against the deadly virus, despite the challenges they have had to endure.

“Against the backdrop of a ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, let us especially remember with gratitude our frontline health workers who every day go beyond the call of their vocation and who have shown phenomenal selflessness in the face of unprecedented tragedy.

“It is our duty to let them know that we appreciate their work, their sacrifice and that we stand with them, supporting them and praying for them every day,” DP Ruto remarked.

Mama Rachel urged members of the public to extend love and comfort, material and moral support to those who have lost their loved ones during this period of the pandemic.

“We pray for the quick healing of the afflicted and continued protection for all our brothers and sisters everywhere,” Mama Rachel stated.

“Let us continue caring and loving our families, our friends and neighbours. Let us carry on with the work of Nation-building in our various pursuits,” DP Ruto concluded as he wished the country a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.
