Ruto had attended a church service at African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) Gathaini Church in the area on Sunday, September 19, where he further learnt that the girls’ father passed away.
Police officers from the minor’s care unit took custody of the duo and offered them shelter at the orphanage as the mother failed to provide them with their basics necessities.
“This might be the main reason I came to this church today. Maybe I was compelled to meet Njeri (one of the girls).
“I heard that the mother has been residing in a rental house too,†Ruto narrated.
He asked Kiambu Women Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba to ensure that the mother and the daughter’s issue was quickly resolved.
Ruto directed the MP to relocate the woman to an affordable house and promised to offer Ksh1 million to facilitate the process.
“And also organise and remind me to start a business venture for her so that she can provide for her family and be united with her two kids.
“We have many young ones who require our aid as Christians. For me, I adopted a number who live in my home. I did not sire them with my wife Mama Rachael,†Ruto urged.
The DP added that performing good deeds should be centered around one’s own volition rather than coercion.
“I would like to urge all Kenyans to adopt these few kids at the care homes because our houses have enough spaces to accommodate them. If you have an empty seat on your dining table, please take one of the kids from these homes and treat them as your own.
“If you have an extra bedroom that is not occupied, please go to a care home and take one angel and take them home,†he pleaded and advised.
