  • Over 350,000 young Kenyans aged between 18 and 35 are set to benefit from the government’s new partnership with Germany to curb unemployment.

President William Ruto made the announcement on Tuesday, November 15, during the second cabinet meeting held at State House.

Notably, the program targets 250,000 youthful entrepreneurs across the country who will be provided with information on brand campaigns, websites, and call-ins to the centre.

Also, an additional 100,000 young entrepreneurs will access in-depth screen services like coaching, mentoring, and career guidance.

Consequently, the government established the Centre of Entrepreneurship to facilitate job creation by positioning micro and small enterprises.

The centre will be located within Kenya Industrial Estates (KIE). Through this, young people, who constitute the majority of the population, will be employed, resulting in wealth creation.

Furthermore, the programme is expected to create 50,000 direct and indirect jobs for the youth.

Through the partnership, the government seeks to expand manufacturing output and boost the country’s overall competitiveness in the global market.

The announcement came after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua launched a mass youth employment programme named Kenya Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship Accelerator (KYEEA) on Monday, October 31.

“The youth remain central to our Government’s agenda to improve the lives of the millions of youth around the country,” Gachagua remarked after partnering with Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).

Kenyans under the age of 35 will thus acquire relevant skills and training to make their courses relevant in the market.
