The announcement came within months after the President granted the service autonomy by transferring their budget from the Office of the President.

Bernice served as a Manager of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation and was the TB/HIV Program Advisor at the University of Maryland Global Initiative Kenya.

In March 2022, she was among the candidates who submitted applications to become members of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

She is a holder of a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Psychology, a Master’s degree in Project Planning and a Master’s degree in Development management.

In addition, former East African Community Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed (EGH) was appointed to the President’s Council of Economic Advisors alongside Prof Vincent Machuki.

Mohamed and Machuki will serve under renowned economist Dr David Ndii, who is the Chair of the Council. Other members include Mohammed Hassan and Associate Member Dr Nancy Laibuni.

Ndii explained that the council is central in ensuring that President Ruto achieves his economic plan for the country.

In addition, it will advise him on economic developments and trends and draft policies for addressing the plight of workers in the country.

Their recommendations will inform the President’s directive on salary reviews and other benefits.
