  • Residents of Embu town on December 11, rallied to rescue a class 8 pupil who had threatened to commit suicide.

The student in full uniform got onto a ledge of a building in the town and threatened to jump.

In a video seen by kenyagist.com, some residents gathered outside the building to catch the girls in the event she decided to jump.

After minutes of uncertainty and as more people gathered, several men decided to climb to where the girl was using the adjacent building.

“I was travelling through the town when I spotted a commotion. On seeing it was a pupil on a ledge, I decided to take action together with another man,” one resident stated.

He noted that the other man hoisted him up to where the girl was as they were careful not to scare her.

After much convincing and being joined by other men, they were able to pull the girl out of the ledge safely.

According to eyewitnesses, as all this was happening, the girl’s mother was outside the main entrance of the building crying and pleading with the girl not to jump.

“The mother at some point fainted and was inconsolable when her daughter was up there,” the resident disclosed.

On December 6, another incident had been witnessed in Kisii Town when a baby crawled out of a window at the topmost floor of a house and was stranded on the ledge of the fourth-floor window.

It took the intervention of brave rescuers to get the baby to safety in a situation that could have gone wrong.

Reports alleged that the child, believed to be a one-year-old, had been left unattended.
