  • This is the season for joy and merrymaking as the festive season is upon us.

Hence, the majority of Kenyans will travel upcountry to reunite with their relatives while some will adhere to the government’s directive by reducing their travel plans and stay within the city.

If so, here are the best places to visit in Nairobi during the festive season.

The Nairobi national park offers a signature wildlife adventure.

    Nairobi National Park

Located a few minutes from the Central Business District (CBD), Nairobi National Park offers a signature wildlife adventure.

The stunning landscape houses a variety of wild animals most notably lions, rhinocerous, giraffes, hippopotamus among others.

It offers a fun time for friends and family to enjoy nature’s beauty as they celebrate the festive season.

    Uhuru Park

The 12.9-hectare recreational park is located adjacent to the CBD. It serves as an ideal choice especially for those short on time.

Couples, family members and relatives can all enjoy a variety of fun activities such as slides and boat rides.

Children also get to enjoy face painting, bouncing castles, merry go round, as well as horse riding.

The entrance is free and one only pays a small fee for the activities they partake in.

    Karura Forest

Karura forest is certainly a good outdoor adventure for nature lovers. From hiking, bird watching, to enjoying a picnic with friends and family, the forest provides another serene environment.

Apart from nature walks, couples can enjoy bike rides and other fun activities. Also, they can explore the butterfly lake which they’ll get to see different species of butterflies as well as monkeys.

The opening and closing hours were, however, reviewed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Gates currently open at 6 am while gates are locked at 7 pm.

    Nairobi National Museum

The museum offers visitors a chance to sample the country’s rich heritage for both educational and leisure purposes.

In addition, visitors are treated to a variety of artifacts and historical elements.

The museum is just a few minutes’ drive from Nairobi city centre hence is both accessible to those using public transport or private means.
