Despite previously supporting the removal of Duale in his position at Parliament, Ngunjiri decided to follow President Uhuru Kenyatta’s stance.
“It is on record that I wanted Hon Aden Duale removed as Majority Leader. I have been specific about my reasons. However, the President decided otherwise.

“Now I understand that there are some MPs who are collecting signatures to remove Hon Aden Duale,” wrote Wambugu.
According to Captial News, Kieni MP Kanini Kega revealed that he has collected 115 signatures, and still counting, to remove Majority Leader Aden Duale.
Ngunjiri explained his stand on the ousting of Duale noting that the President would have no second thoughts if he was to de-whip the National Assembly Majority Leader.
“My position is simple. If the President wanted Duale to go, Duale would have gone. The President chose not to remove him – for his own reasons.
“If today the President decides Duale should go, he will not last an hour. The Party will get it done. The President doesn’t need our help to remove to Duale. So we must stop intimidating colleagues for personal interest,” added Wambugu.
The MP noted people must stop trying to second guess the President and noted that they cannot do it and then complain that others are doing it.
Despite widespread reports that Duale was next on the chopping board in the ongoing Jubilee purge, he retained his position after the party’s Parliamentary Group Meeting on Tuesday, June 2.
In the meeting held at the State House, National Assembly Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali and his deputy Cecily Mbarire were shown the door.
The duo were replaced by Navakholo MP Emmanuel Wangwe and Igembe North MP Maoka Maore respectively.
