K24 Digital on Wednesday, April 1, reported that Nyoro directed that the Parliamentary Service Commission to remit his earnings for the month to the Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund.
The Kiharu legislator who addressing members of the public during the launch of Kambirwa Assistant County Commissioner’s office also informed that staff attached to his office had agreed to take pay cuts for the month of April, also contributing towards the fight against the deadly virus.

While Nyoro committed Ksh 532,500 to the campaign, his staff along with members of the Kiharu Constituency Development Fund board would take a 20 per cent pay cut.
“We may not have a single case registered in Kiharu Constituency, however, people in the informal sector such as boda boda operators and greengrocers are experiencing the economic hardship brought by the pandemic.
“Because we understand the financial problems the virus has subjected this group of people to, I will commit 100 per cent of my April salary to the Covid-19 fight. Staff members attached to my office, including the CDF management, will take a 20 per cent pay-cut,” Nyoro stated.
The Deputy President William Ruto ally urged the Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund Board to provide a pay bill number and allow contributions from well wishers.
The lawmaker joins in the trend of legislators who have given up their salaries to help in the fight towards taming the spread of the virus.
On Wednesday, March 25, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino wrote to Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, also pledging his salary for the month of April towards fighting Coronavirus.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also announced salary cuts for himself and DP Ruto as well as members of his Cabinet.
This, the head of state informed, was a step towards cushioning members of the public from the economic hit the country may incur during this period.
