  • Jubilee Vice-chairman David Murathe now wants Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga to look into Roots Party George Wajackoyah’s manifesto especially his ideas on growing medicinal marijuana.

Speaking Wednesday morning, on NTV, Murathe stated that growing marijuana for medicinal purposes is something that Raila should take into account.

He noted that a number of countries in Africa have turned to bhang for export and it is an idea that many Kenyans and especially the youth have particularly taken a keen interest in.

“I like what he (Wajackoyah) is saying about weed. It is true and I saw a documentary about weed in South Africa. It is not your normal weed. This is medicinal and they bring in agronomists and they grow in greenhouses. It is expensive,” Murathe stated.

“Countries around us have done it. Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, and Zambia are examples and it’s about making money. We are asking our candidate to consider in the next dispensation for medicinal purposes. The numbers Wajackoyah is giving are making sense.”

Murathe further stated that Wajackoyah is rising in popularity in the Presidential race and should worry his former boss Deputy President William Ruto.

“If Wajackoyah was to change any dynamic and I saw him the other day some social media photographs with the deputy president it is a deputy president’s corner that should be very worried.

“They should be very concerned because they are appealing to that generation is right they are appealing to people who are taking they’re not interrogating some of these things seriously,” Murathe stated on the Roots Party presidential candidate.

Murathe’s sentiments on the numbers that Wajackoyah came after a survey released on Tuesday, June 21, indicated that the legal scholar appeared to have dented DP Ruto’s fortunes after his popularity in Nairobi county dipped to 25 per cent in June 2022.

The TIFA poll further showed that the Roots party is at par with the ruling Jubilee party’s popularity in Nairobi county at four per cent.Ā
