Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Sunday, January 19, accused ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi of lacking a proper strategy to propel his presidential ambitions.

He was addressing the media regarding the events that transpired on Saturday, January 18, when the former vice president attended the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) consultative meeting that was convened at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Khalwale was addressing reports that Mudavadi received a call from President Uhuru Kenyatta asking him to grace the forum, despite having called for a parallel meeting.

“Is Mudavadi telling us that when he will be running for president and people are behind him, when Uhuru calls him and tells him to stop running and support Raila, he will abandon his supporters?” Khalwale asserted.

“He abandoned his meeting and landed into an opponent’s meeting,” he added.

To set the record straight, Khalwale insisted that it was he who ended his working relationship with Mudavadi as well as with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

“It is I who divorced them. That is why I even stepped down as vice-chairperson of Ford-Kenya,” Khalwale stated.

He further proclaimed that his tenure working with Mudavadi came to a halt when he identified that the ANC leader lacked the strategy to clinch the country’s top spot.

“It is me who divorced them. I divorced Mudavadi after I worked with him and confirmed that he has no strategy of becoming president, what he has is an intention to become president,” Khalwale informed.

The former Kakamega senator adviced against Kenyans against supporting the duo arguing that it would not yield fruits.

“We are mentioning it to them so that whoever asked them to go to Bukhungu Stadium, hoping that he would get political capital out of it, there would be no returns on that ambitious investment,” Khalwale stated.

On January 29, 2017, Mudavadi founded the National Super Alliance (Nasa) with which they fronted ODM Leader Raila Odinga as a presidential candidate and Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the running mate for that year’s highly-contested general election.
