  • A mention that to any Kenyan that a member of parliament would donate his salary to set up development projects for his or her people would probably sound like a dream.

Well, this dream came true to slum residents in Saboti Constituency who woke up to their Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi bringing a solution to their perennial water problem.

Amisi used his June salary to build 10 water points for slum residents in his constituency. He revealed that he reached upon the decision to help his constituents after listening to endless pleas of the slum residents.

“Although water and sanitization fall under the county and national governments. I decided to deny myself in order to help you, my people,” he reiterated.

In a video seen by kenyagist.com, the Saboti MP briefly became a mason as he placed a brick in one of the water points still under construction.

According to the legislator, slum dwellers had suffered for long as they barely had access to clean water.

One of the residents narrated the troubles that she and other residents had gone through.

“We have suffered because of using unclean water. Sometimes, we have to forego our work to tend to our children when they have running stomachs,” she expressed.

The residents also asked their youthful MP to build them a bridge.

She thanked the MP for setting up the stations as they would now have access to clean water to drink and use for other domestic chores.

In May 2020, the Saboti legislator donated food worth Ksh14 million to slum dwellers in his constituency to help them cope with hard times due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Amisi thanked the residents for joining him in the official launch of the project and promised to chip in whenever he could.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi officially launches the water projects in a slum in his constituency on Wednesday, July 14.
