The authority says that reckless driving, dangerous overtaking, drunk driving, drunk walking, drunk riding, failure to use helmets among other issues are some of the factors that attribute to the increase in road accidents.

Some of the measures that the authority has taken to reduce the accidents include; road mainstreamining in ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) which is implemented through the government performance Contracting.
