Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Monday, April 20, released a list of estates within the country that have registered at lease one Covid-19 case, calling on the residents to be careful and exercise caution in their day-to-day activities.

”Today I want to make a special appeal to the people in the counties of Machakos, Kajiado, Kiambu and Murang’a. As Nairobi Metropolitan Metropolitan counties, you have a special responsibility to guard against coronavirus from Nairobi County,” said Kagwe

Nairobi County currently leading with the highest number of Covid-19 cases has remained the epicentre in Kenya even as new hotspots emerge, in part aided by residents circumventing the cessation of movement order.

On Friday, April 17, in a press conference Interior CS Fred Matiang’i pointed different estates within Nairobi not adhering to any government directive and engaging in drinking sprees and parties.

The estates mentioned by Matiang’i include; Buru Buru, Kilimani, Lang’ata, Ruai, Kayole, Githurai, Embakasi and Ruaka, estates that have all recorded cases of Covid-19.

Today Health CS gave out a list of more estates that may emerge as possible covid-19 hotspots. Kagwe pointed out that in Machakos for instance, there were seven new cases with Syokimau having two cases and one each in Athi River, Kamulu, Rubi Garden Estate, Kithunguni and Viraji Estates.

In Kiambu County; Githurai, Githurai 45, Ndongoru, Thindigua, Tinganga, Waithaka and Wataalam have all reported a single case of Covid-19.

Kitengela, Ongata, Rongai and Matasia have each reported a case in Kajiado County.

In Nairobi County; Kilimani has reported 6 cases, Kawangware three cases, Karen and Pipeline five cases, Utawala four cases, Mlolongo and Eastleigh registering one case, and Ngara registering two cases of patents who have been diagnosed with the virus.

Other estates that have recorded cases of covid-19 in Nairobi include Buruburu, Tassia, Nyayo Embakasi, Parklands, Donholm, Hurlingum and Madaraka estates.

Murang’a County has reported two cases in Gatanga and Lumumba Drive estates.

Kagwe went ahead to call on Kenyans to minimise movement and unnecessary travels, to prevent a further spread of the virus.
