Miguna Cries Foul Over Cases Against Matiang'i, Kibicho

-

  • Lawyer Miguna Miguna on Saturday, November 19, criticised a judge who dismissed four of his cases against former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and his Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

Miguna threatened legal action against the judge who he has accused of being inconsiderate.

The lawyer wondered why the cases were dismissed prior to his arrival in Kenya form exile on Thursday, October 20.

“On whose orders did the judge dismiss four of my cases against Fred Matiang’i, Kibicho and others on October 14?” Miguna lamented.

According to the activist, the Honourable Judge reportedly did not care to grant him a notice on the withdrawal of the cases.

“Without notice to me instead of rendering judgement against the defendants who hadn’t defended?” Miguna tweeted.

He therefore called for an investigation into the issue.

“I have instructed advocates to reinstate the cases and pursue action against the judge,” he confirmed.

Miguna had sought compensation for damages incurred after the 2017 General Election, where he was exiled for swearing in former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga.

In June 2022 while still in Canada, Miguna filed a lawsuit against then-Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, seeking legal redress.

The compensation was supposed to carter for damages caused during his deportation, which include assault, defamation and unlawful detention.

Miguna Miguna landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Thursday, October 20, after 1716 days since his deportation in March 2018.

He has since visited various parts of the country including Kisumu where he promised to liberate the Luo community.
