  • Kiambu tycoon Eric Ndichu popularly known as Ka-Virginia on Thursday, August 13, launched a state-of-the-art petrol station and announced free fuel for drivers.

He offered free fuel to all motorists making their way to the station, just a day before the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced an increase in the price of petrol.

Speaking to kenyagist.com, Ndichu praised that the venture would create employment, adding that “We are humbly requesting motorists to come and experience the benefits of our products which are well enhanced by the latest technologies.”

The event was officiated by Kiambu Governor James Nyoro alongside former Nairobi Deputy Governor Polycarp Igathe.

During the launch, Governor Nyoro encouraged investors to consider investing in Kiambu County.

Nyoro reiterated that his government was doing everything possible to initiate proper investment structures to entice and accommodate new and existing investors.

He added that the new station would give direct employment to the youth within the area, thus economically empowering them.

“Kiambu County Government has welcomed the move by Ka-Virginia to invest and partner with us through service delivery and job creation,†the governor concluded.

The businessman is known for being philanthropic and his close association with politicians in Kiambu as well as the national government.

The free fuel offer in Ndichu’s petrol stations, as well as others in Nairobi, was a topic of discussion on social media on Friday, August 14, with many motorists wishing they knew about it.

Hundreds of drivers who knew about the offer flocked the petrol stations and caused heavy traffic along Thika Super Highway, Greenspan and Magadi Road.

In 2018, he hit the headlines when unknown assailants broke into his Range Rover which was parked at Thika Road Mall and made away with Ksh 500,000 in cash alongside other valuables.
