Matiang’i Ministry Advertises 1,870 Job Vacancies – How to Apply

  • The Ministry of Interior and Co-ordination of the National Government has announced 1,827 Job vacancies.

    The jobs advertised include positions on different levels such as clerical officers, office administrative assistants, drivers, and support staff.

    Further, the salary ranges from around Ksh16,000 to Ksh22,000 per month.

    According to the notice, interested applicants are required to hand-deliver the applications to their respective County Commissioner’s office on or before Monday, August 2 at 5:00 pm.

    How to Apply

    All interested candidates are required to make their applications by completing one application form PSC2 (Revised 2016). The form will be downloaded from the PSC website www.publicservice.go.ke

    Here are the Vacancies:

    Clerical Officer II -1200 posts

    Terms of Service: Short term contract for six months

    Salary: Ksh16,890 per month

    House Allowance: Varies according to the area of deployment

    Commuter Allowance: Ksh3,000 per month

    Medical Benefits: As applicable in the Civil service.

    Requirements

    i) Candidate must be in possession of KCSE mean grade C – (minus) or its equivalent qualification 

    ii) Proficiency in computer applications from a recognized institution

    Duties and responsibilities

    Officers at this level will be deployed in the Department of National Registration Bureau. Duties will involve:

    -Data entry and verification

    • Any other duties that may be assigned by supervisors

    Office Administrative Assistant III – 205 posts

    Salary: Ksh22,270 per month

    House allowance: Varies according to the area of deployment

    Commuter Allowance: Ksh3,000 per month

    Medical benefits: As applicable in the Civil service

    Requirements for Appointment

    i) KCSE mean grade C- (minus) with at least C plain in English or Kiswahili language or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

    ii) Business Education Single and Group Certificates (BES & GC) from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) in the following subjects: 

    a) Typewriting II (minimum 40 words per minute) or Computerized Document Processing II

    b) Business English I or Communications I

    c) Office Practice I 

    d) Commerce I

    • If they lack the above documents, applicants can present a certificate in Secretarial Studies from KNEC.

    iii) Certificate in Computer Applications skills from a recognized institution

    Duties and Responsibilities

    i) Word and data processing from manuscripts 

    ii) Operating office equipment

    iii) Ensuring the security of office equipment, documents, and records

    iv) Attending to visitors and clients

    v) Handling telephone calls and appointments 

    vi) Undertaking any other office administrative and services that may be assigned

    Driver – 109 posts

    i) Salary: Ksh14,610 per month

    ii) House Allowance: Varies according to the area of deployment

    iii) Commuter allowance: Ksh3,000 per month

    iv) Medical Benefits: As applicable in the Civil service

    Requirements of Appointment

    i) KCSE mean Grade D plain from a recognized institution

    ii) Valid driving license from any current endorsement for classes of vehicles an officer is required to drive

    iii) Attended a First-Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one week at St John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution

    iv) Passed suitability test for Driver Grade III from KIHBT

    v) Passed Practical Test for drivers conducted by the respective Ministry or Department

    vi) Valid Police clearance certificate

    vii) At least two years of driving experience

    Duties and responsibilities

    i) Driving a motor vehicle as authorised

    ii) Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s colling oil, electrical and brake systems, tyre pressure, etc.

    iii) Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of vehicle systems

    iv) Maintenance of work tickets for vehicles assigned 

    v) Ensuring security and safety for the vehicle on and off the road

    vi) Safety of passengers and or goods therein

    vii) Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle

    Support Staff -356 posts

    Salary: Ksh13,280 per month

    House Allowance: Varies according to the area of deployment 

    Commuter Allowance: Ksh3,000 per month

    Medical benefits: As applicable in the Civil service

    Requirements for Appointment 

    -Minimum of KCPE certificate
