In a motion moved by Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali alias Jicho Pevu, he noted that the impeachment was anchored on four main accusations including; failure to respect court orders, abuse of office, disrespecting Members of Parliament, and failure to protect Kenyans as required in the constitution.
Most of the MPs who have signed the motion are allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
They include; MPs Alice Wahome (Kandara), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Gathoni Wamuchomba (Kiambu), Anab Gore (Garissa), Gladys Shollei (Uasin Gishu) among others.
“Your time is up. Signatures ready. We are going to impeach you for killing Kenya,” Moha Jicho Pevu stated.
Following by-elections in May, a section of MPs from both the tangatanga and the kieleweke factions seemed to be in unison in the impeachment of the CS.
ODM leader Raila Odinga issued a strong-worded statement criticising the use of police force in political tests.
The message appeared targeted at Matiang’i after some ODM MPs accused him of using state resources to campaign for the Jubilee candidate .
With time, however, the narrative changed and some ODM MPs argued that DP’s allies were the ones behind the impeachment.
“… Dr Matiang’i was appointed by the president to execute his duties inherently but coming up with made-up issues that Dr Matiang’i is not attending committee meetings and that is the sole reason for the impeachment that doesn’t hold water,” Owino stated.
“This gang is led by Honorable Mohamed Ali from Nyali and we are telling them that we will build a separate Parliament for him so that he can make noise there,” he added.
