He was the father to lawyer Andrew Musangi and father-in-law to businesswoman Maryanne Kirubi.
This is a second loss to the Musangis following the family patriach billionaire Industrialist Chris Kirubi on June 14, 2021.
Richard Musangi was appointed to the chancellor position by former president Mwai Kibaki.Ā He became the first holder of the office at the University of Kabianga following its charter on March 1, 2013.
He leaves a vast amount of academic experiences like being the pioneer vice-chancellor of Egerton University after leaving University of Nairobi.
Apart from being an academician he was a renowned farmer in Trans Nzoia County.Ā
