KTN news anchor Lindah Oguttu has opened up on how a friend was healed of the Coronavirus while also crediting the Ministry of Health for her journey to recovery.

Oguttu took to Twitter to share the story of a friend who is the mother of a nine-year-old child but withheld her name for ethical reasons.

In a Tweet dated Wednesday, April 8, Oguttu was delighted that her pal beat Covid-19, “A friend has just been released from Mbagathi hospital.

“She is now free of #coronavirus so people, this is a happy me and a salute to health workers in Kenya. This is why: She had some symptoms and went for a test.”

The former NTV news anchor revealed that after the test her friend was told her results would be out the following day and went to work only to be called by Ministry of Health with the news that she had tested positive.

Oguttu went on to disclose how the news was broken to her friend, “While at work, she started getting calls from strange numbers…

“They introduced themselves, asked where she was and asked her to stay put (She says they were really nice on phone). They did not tell her why they were looking for her though.

“When they finally got to her, they sat her down, told her about her results and reassured her, asked her not to panic, and told her they needed to take her to an isolation centre. They gave her a mask and walked her to the car.”

Being a mother her biggest concern was however her nine-year-old child at home so as she was ferried to Mbagathi Hospital another team was sent to her place as she called another friend to take care of the child.

After the child’s test turned out negative, the kid remained under the care of the friend with Linda noting that the Ministry of Health went the extra mile of checking up on the kid every single day,

Oguttu revealed that after recovery, her friend has a new battle of fighting stigma. “So 14 days later, baby has zero symptoms and mum is back home. She says the only thing we need to fight is the stigma.

“Her neighbours are afraid of her. Wacheni Mungu aitwe mungu. Stay at home people, stay safe, and yes, my friend is okay, I am happy.

Oguttu went on to thank the Ministry of Health, Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, her colleague Dr Mercy Korir and the team that checked on her friend’s child.

Her friend is part of the nine recoveries in the country as of Wednesday, April 8 with 179 people testing positive for Covid-19 so far.
