  • Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) newly hired prime time news anchors Fred Indimuli and Suleiman Yeri have called it quits at the state-owned broadcaster.

A source from KBC confirmed to kenyagist.com on Sunday, September 5, that Indimuli tendered his resignation after bagging a deal at KTN News to replace the departed anchor Ben Kitili.

The move comes just two months after the former K24 TV anchor joined the media house and assigned the Friday, 9 p.m. newscast dubbed Easy Friday.

“It is true he (Fred  Indimuli) has left KBC. I think he got a job somewhere else,” confirmed the source. The station is yet to find a replacement for Indimuli.

Another highly placed source at KTN News noted that the two anchors had scheduled to join the Mombasa-road-based media house.

He noted that the final touches on Indimuli’s deal was still in the works but that of Yeri’s deal was already confirmed.

“There is a high possibility he is coming. The person who has been confirmed is Suleiman Yeri. He is coming back as an anchor,” stated the source.

Indimuli was among the 10 new hires who joined KBC in mid-June as part of the revamp plan to grow the broadcasters numbers.

Other faces that were unveiled during the relaunch included Tom Mboya, Catherine Kasavuli, Badi Muhsin, Cynthia Nyamai, Fayaz Kureish, Shiksha Arora, Ahmed Juma Bhalo, Nancy Onyancha and former NTV anchor Harith Salim.

Indimuli had worked at K24 TV before he was shown the door alongside his colleagues over pay cut dispute pitting the management against the employees.

Yeri, on the other hand, is set to return to Standard Media since living the station’s Radio Maisha for KBC in 2018. He had spent 3 years at Standard Media.

Kitili resigned from KTN News at the end of July 2021 after working for the media house for a total of eight years and headed to NTV to take the position of News Editor.
