  • When the Longombas brothers Lovy and his late brother Christian left Kenya at the peak of their careers, a lot of their fans were disappointed and many more confused.

The decision only made sense to them but for the rest of the fans, it made little sense to leave Kenya when their careers were at their peak. Years later, it would seem that the migration to the US was one of the best decisions they ever made.

After leaving with just a few songs and not much to show in terms of assets, Lovy returned to the country in March 2020 as the founder of a Ksh800 million church called the Revelation Church in Los Angeles.

In a recent interview, Lovy gave a glimpse into how successful he had become in the US.

“When Christian got sick I focused on producing music. I produced for people like Justin Beiber, Jason Derulo and Chris Brown. I got nominated for a Grammy Award three times,†the musician turned prophet revealed.

During his trip to Kenya, Lovy enjoyed a luxurious stay in one of the only two presidential suites at Hemingways Hotel in Nairobi which goes for up to Ksh30,000 a night.

It was important for the man of God to stay in an environment that resembles the comfort he enjoys back at home in Calabasas, one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in the US.

According to US realtors, the average price for a house in this area is Ksh200 million, which can be likened to Kenya’s Runda, Muthaiga or Kitisuru Estates.

“Akon lives 5 minutes away from my house and visits very often. Malibu beach is only 10 minutes away from where I live,†he said adding that Kanye West and Chris Brown also lived close by.

“I have businesses I run in the real estate and education sectors. I also do a lot of charity work that I personally fund. Last year I spent Ksh100 million giving back to the community.

“When God blesses you it is important to help those who are vulnerable,†he said quoting the scriptures.

Responding to whether he was contemplating getting back to recording music, the prophet said he was not keen on it because his partner passed away.

“We were writing and working on music whenever possible but I cannot perform alone. I was used to doing it with my brother but it’s not something I am interested in pursuing alone,†he explained.
