In a press statement dated September 15, 2021, seen by kenyagist.com, the organizations are calling for applications for the 2021 African Youth Adaptation Solutions challenge.
In the statement, young innovators and entrepreneurs in the country are urged to apply for the challenge.
Winners of the challenge will receive Ksh10 million each to grow their businesses and create jobs.
â€œThe Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) and the African Development Bank have launched a call for applications for the first edition of the African Youth Adaptation Solutions, the YouthAdapt Challenge,â€ read the statement.
â€œWinners of the YouthAdapt Challenge will be awarded business grants of up to Ksh10 million ($100,000) each and the opportunity to participate in a 12-month business accelerator program,â€ read the statement.
The competition is aimed at empowering the youth and their business with the aim of addressing climate change in Africa.
â€œThe competition aims to leverage the resources…of both organizations to support the mid-sized companies in the areas of funding, thereby promoting sustainable climate adaptation and resilience practices on the African continent,â€ read the statement.
How to Apply
Interested applicants are urged to submit their business plans on the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) website.
â€œYoung entrepreneurs between the age of 18 and 35 are invited to respond to the call for the expression of interest and submit their business plan through the official submission portal,â€ read the statement.
Interested candidates are also directed to make their application before October 6, 2021.
The winners of the YouthAdapt challenge will be announced on November 8, 2021.
