  • Update 11:30: Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on Friday, April 30, directed  the Director of Criminal Investigations to form a special team that would probe the disappearance and killing of four friends who were last seen in Kitengela.

The special team is expected to give a report in a month’s time.

“This morning, I directed the DCI homicide team to investigate this matter in order to get to the bottom of it.†“The team has already begun its work,â€Mutyambai stated.

The family of Jack Ochieng, one of the Kitengela friends whose body was believed to be found in Murang’a County on Thursday, April 29, has spoken on the gruesome murder incident.

Speaking to kenyagist.com, Jack’s brother Cliff Ochieng said that the man, who was initially believed to be Jack, was not.

“We came to Murang’a to identify him but the body that we saw is not my brother’s. The body is still fresh and I can say for a fact that he is not my brother.

“His ear is not the same, his teeth, hairstyle are different and the clothes he was wearing are not his,” Ochieng told this writer.

Cliff noted that his brother was in the tours and travel business until 2020 when the Country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic and he was laid off.

“When he stopped working, he engaged in a number of businesses including car hires where he was well connected. He would take vehicles from firms and hire them out especially because he had a wide network,” he added.

Speaking to his character, Cliff noted that his brother was a favourite of many people and was always in the company of friends. He said that the family had not gotten any word on criminal activities that his brother had committed.

“I have never met any of the other friends that are said to have been in his company when he disappeared,” he concluded.

The four men; Ochieng, Benjamin Imbai, Brian Odour and Elijah Obuong, went missing after having lunch at a popular club in Kitengela. They allegedly left in a white Toyota Mark X only to be reported missing a few hours later.

Reports indicate that their vehicle was found in the same spot that it had been parked.

Their disappearance was made known after a post asking Kenyans to help authorities and family find the four was shared on The Nairobi Crime-Free Society Facebook page.

Police had indicated that they had found three of the four missing friends as of Thursday, April 29.

Murang’a County DCI boss Daniel Kandie indicated that the police were working with their Kitengela counterparts to investigate what led to their deaths.
