Kimani Ichung'wah Defends Ruto Poaching Azimio Politicians

-

  • Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung’wah defended President William Ruto over his onslaught on the opposition.

Appearing on Inooro TV on Sunday, February 12, Ichung’wah stated that the recent move by a section of Azimio leaders to support Kenya Kwanza government had not been influenced by the president.

He insisted that the leaders had made their own decisions as they cared most about the future of the people who elected them.

“All the those joining Ruto are all elected and nominated leaders and have the right to listen to the people who elected them. They decided to listen to their people and understand that the election period came to an end.

They realised that Kenyans moved on and they no longer want anything with those opposing the government. They accepted that Ruto is the president and they have to work with the government for the future of their people,” he noted.

The Kikuyu Member of Parliament (MP) emphasized that Ruto had no motive of forcing anyone to work with him and that anyone was free to leave without coercion.

“We have not forced anyone to leave their party, all we tell them is that you should follow what the government want but not as a party. If they want to leave they are free to.

I told the president that we are working towards not being enemies with anyone,” he added.

Ichung’wah noted that the Jubilee party was dead and not even its party leader, former president Uhuru Kenyatta, had hopes in it.

He warned the embattled Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni against sending threats to the party members.

“I heard Uhuru saying that his party head is Azimio leader,Raila Odinga, so maybe he has also left Jubilee. He also sees that Jubilee has no future.

I also saw the other man with pans and spoons saying that he will evict people from the party, but we warned them that we would leave the party to them dead if they continued sending people away,” he uttered.

On Friday, February 10, Kioni indicated that Uhuru was focused on his international peacekeeping duties and would not get involved in the ongoing Jubilee party wrangles after a section of his allies pledged support for the government.

Speaking during Azimio rally in Busia on Sunday, February 12, Kioni accused National Assembly Deputy Minority Whip Sabina Chege and nominated Senator Fatuma Dullo of betraying the party arguing that they should be dewhiped.
