  • Hafsa Mohammed Lukman, a businesswoman from Eastleigh, Nairobi who went missing on Tuesday, June 15, has been rescued by police.

Reports indicate that Hafsa was found locked up in a house at Kayole, Nairobi.

Speaking to kenyagist.com Zachary Lukman, Hafsa’s brother, confirmed that his sister had been rescued and taken to the hospital for medical attention.

“Neighbours heard screams coming from the house in Kayole, hence they called the police who rushed in to rescue Hafsa,” he stated.

He added that the abductors are yet to be traced as they had already left the scene by the time the police had arrived.

Zachary also confirmed that the Ksh5 million ransom had not been paid to the kidnappers.

The brother, however, pointed out Hafsa Abdulwahab, who was also reported missing alongside Hafsa Lukman, is yet to be traced.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) also revealed that they had apprehended one suspect who is believed to part of the gang that had kidnapped Hafsa.

The 24-year-old suspect is expected to aid the police in arresting his accomplices.

The news comes as a video of Hafsa had surfaced online on Thursday, June 17, two days after she had been reported missing.

The video showed Hafsa, in a battered state, urging her family to pay the ransom.

“I have been kidnapped, and they’re demanding ransom. Please, send it,” the businesswoman stated in the video.

Further, CCTV footage at Lukman’s shop had been retrieved showing her, in the company of Abdulwahab, as they both left the premises on Tuesday, June 15. The two were later on reported missing by their families.

Hafsa Abdulwahab, a businesswoman in Eastleigh, went missing alongside Hafsa Mohammed Lukman on Tuesday, June 15.
