In an event held in Reading on October 2, 2021, Tanui was consecrated as the Bishop of the Evangelical lxthus Church Council (ICC).
At her consecration, Tanui expressed her gratitude for the faith that the church leadership had bestowed on her, stating that she never imagined that she would reach such heights in her Ministry.
“Thank you for the faith that you have shown to me. I could never have imagined that one day I would witness such a moment in my life,” she stated.
She further stated that she was motivated to join the ministry work by missioners who were engaged in noble activities in her community.
“Where I was brought up as I can remember, I used to admire how the pastors in the service, would minister to me as a young person. This served as a burning desire within me to serve God in my life,” Tanui added.
The cleric, born and raised in Kenya, noted that migration was a global concern, stating that her leadership would be engaged in catering to the needs of migrant communities in the UK.
“We are witnessing unprecedented migration as a global reality in the 21st Century. This must be the mission of every Christian and the church as a whole. To minister to those of us in the diaspora,” she noted.
“I will endeavour to reach out to the migrant community which entails service to the vulnerable for them to enjoy dignity in life,” the Bishop stated.
Her consecration service was also attended by officials from the Kenyan Embassy in the UK, who took to social media to congratulate the Kenyan for her achievement.
