John Anzrah a former Kenyan Olympic sprinter was on Tuesday, December 3 rushed to hospital where he was admitted, having suffered a stroke.

Anzrah, a brother to the late football icon Joe Kadenge, is said to have fallen ill while in Nairobi CBD before receiving help from good samaritans.

The Standard spoke to his sister-in-law Skastina, who revealed he was first rushed to Nairobi West Hospital but later transferred to Kenyatta National Hospital.

Doctors are said to have discovered that the former sprinter was bleeding in his brain.

Skastina told the press that Anzrah was responding well to treatment after undergoing several tests.

“Anzrah has been talking to us and responding well as we await further action from the doctors,” she stated.

He represented Kenya in the 1983 World Championships in Finland and the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

In 1987, he made a return to sports by competing in the All Africa Games and the World Indoor Championships.

He moved on to coaching after retiring.

Anzrah competed in 4x100m and 4x400m relays before trying out 400m and 200m.
